Three. for Ani

My baby girl is three. I hate how fast time goes. When I was pregnant with her time seemed to stand still. She was 5 days late and it felt like an eternity. Now my little miss independent is a walking talking mini me. I of course don’t have a favorite kid, but sometimes I am overwhelmed with emotions for my daughter. I dreamed of having a little blonde girl like her way back when I used to play house, and now that dream is a reality.

A little about you…..

You love to sing. You aren’t embarrassed to belt it out in front of a crowd. You tell us that you are going to school to learn to sing. This makes my heart jump up and down for joy because you remind me so much of little three year old Mandy. Next step is teaching you the art of fireplace concerts, where your whole family is summoned to attend. You LOVE all things Disney and Princess. We took you to Disney world in May as your big third birthday present. We were thrilled to watch you meet your idols. You were so sweet as you met each princess and daddy and I agreed it was worth every penny.  You can’t figure out the potty. You want to so bad, but you just can’t. I know your brain is smart enough, but your sensors just aren’t there. We are now down to the wire with school starting in September. Lord help us all!!! For your birthday you told everyone that all you wanted was a “big box of trolls”. The best part of all was your reaction to opening the box.  You are most definitely going to be a part of the drama club, I can see it now. You are a girly girl. You like to put on mommy’s lipsense (“not the white one mommy”) and you often run to get your “wake up” bag so that you can get ready with mommy. You have declared to the world that pink is YOUR color. You love shoes, however you take them off the second you get in the car, which makes running errands take even longer. Aniston, you complete our family. You round us out just perfectly. God knew we needed a little curly haired firecracker to keep us on our toes, and to save us all from daddy’s big squishes!

For birthdays we LOVE to support all things local, and this vintage Disney theme was no different. Cake and macaroons from Sweetsntreats317. Aniston’s dress rented from the Borrowed Boutique. Cinderella is a Indy local, Whitney Kincaid. And the Cinderella carriage was by Yellow Rose Carriages. Phantom was our horse, and he was just the best. It was such a magical evening. It felt like Disneyworld in the midst of downtown Indy. What a way to celebrate our little love turning three.

Spooky playdate

When the cutest bunch of kids get together for a halloween bash it looks a little like this. We ate yummy treats, listened to spooky music, and drank red blood juice. A huge thank you to The Borrowed Boutique for outfitting the kids, and Sweets N Treats 317 for the out of this world yummy desserts.

Happy Halloween Everyone!!!

Aniston is Tutu

When your princess is turning two the party theme options are unlimited. However there was only one that seemed most fitting: a tutu party! Now, being a white and neutral lover I knew I didn’t want the typical all bubble gum pink ballet party, but more a whimsical swan princess party. Having the party at my house really helped me bring this idea to life and I was able to set up slowly over the course of a couple days. I ended up using a lot of things I already owned which was a plus, and things I had bought for her party last year and never used. The borrowed boutique made our tutu dreams come true by renting out most of the girls’ beautiful dresses. And those beautiful treats?! Yeah they tasted as good as they look thanks to my friend Kelly from Sweets n Treats 317. It worked out that all of Aniston’s little friends were able to come and that they love all things girlie too. The girls ate dainty treats, sipped sparkling pink punch, opened wonderful goodie bags from some awesome vendors (will name below), and danced to the songs from Frozen. When it came time to blow out the candles Ani wasn’t quite sure of the fire or the singing. And she didn’t quite understand the concept of presents ha! Who doesn’t love presents?! By gift bag number two she started to realize hey, I might actually want to open these. The party just couldn’t of been any sweeter, and thanks to Karena Demerchant Photography  we will forever have amazing pictures to remember the day!!

The girls LOVED their princess Elsa glitter chapsticks!

Princess Emma and Emily enjoying the party!

Cohen, my forever baby, my firstborn, there is no possible way you can be nine already. I still look at you as my little 4 year old buddy. We did everything together, just you and me. If I would of had snapchat or instagram stories back then I swear you would of looked like the perfect child. Or maybe I just don’t remember the bad. I’m so thankful for the 5 years we had alone because I truly feel that your character was shaped and groomed during that time. So much of how I remember you as a child I still see in you today. Your innocence is a treasure. You shyness so adorable. Your kindness, unmeasurable. I love watching you grow and challenge your self in every new situation. You are such a strong leader and I can’t wait to see the places you will go.

This summer was filled with many family activities and trips. You are so interested in geography and travel. You once asked for a trip to Paris or Scotland for Christmas. We took you to New York and I loved watching your wide eyes wander. Maybe you will live there someday. We went to multiple fairs, swam in lakes and pools, and learned that you can now go up the huge hill by our house on your bike with ease.  I watched you suck up your fear as you kneeboarded  alone and then wakeboarded for the first time. I saw you casually make new friends at the neighboorhood putt putt party and then responsibly tell us you’d be home by 10. That night was a huge first. Mom and dad put the little ones to bed and then sat up in the living room deciding if we should go find you, or trust that you would make it home before dark. Wow what a glimpse into the future!

There are so many times that you seem way too grown up, but then there are those times where you still seem little. You just can’t help but pick on your brother. The scream that you get to come out of him steps on every single one of my nerves. You still want to sleep with a night light and act scared of silly things like bugs and fish.  You haven’t reached the age where you don’t want kisses from mom. I mean of course not in public, but at home you desire the same amount of smooches that your little brother and sister get. One of your most favorite things to do is cuddle up with me or dad and watch a movie. You sit and watch sports with dad and I am shocked at how much you know. This summer you played lacrosse for the first time and 3rd grade baseball, which was a grade up. You did amazing at both, and was even one of the main pitchers on your team. Winning the lacrosse championship and the baseball all-star game was the icing on the cake.img_7407

Now you’re starting 3rd grade. I took you to meet your teacher a few days ago and I watched you interact with her and your classmates. You are really such a cool kid. Liked by adults and kids both. You are so selfless but yet competitive, the perfect combination in my opinion. Cohen I just couldn’t be more proud of you. You work so hard on your school work, and excel in all that you do. Dad and I are amazed at how independently you work on your homework. We hope that you always enjoy learning.

Football season is upon us and once again we get to watch you dominate. You are the man out there. I feel so proud, but also nervous at times. Everyone knows you are so tough, so they double and sometimes triple team you. I am just constantly saying prayers for your safety.

Keeping up with the birthday tradition we took you to the last Pacer’s home game of the season, where it’s fan appreciation night and the team cleans out their lockers and signs autographs. This year both you and Kempton got players signed shoes and other goodies too. Later that week we had a friends party that was of course Pacers themed. Also keeping up with traditions you got sick during your birthday sleepover. It has happened that last two years in a row. You never get sick, and then boom the stomach flu on the day of your party. This time the vomiting happened in the night so poor Joe had to stay and be exposed. Hopefully this tradition does not continue.img_3393

We love you Cobug, the brown bear, Cooey, Squish, Suki, Co! You bring so much joy and adventure to our lives. I can’t even begin to imagine what my life was like before you, or what it would be like without you. I am so thankful that I am your mommy!

A girlie Easter Basket

I really think spring is my favorite. For us midwesterners it is so full of hope and extremely mood changing. Everything starts to wake up and colors start to brighten. There is nothing like the way that spring air smells in Indiana. Spring shopping is also one of my favorites, and putting together a girlie easter basket, whoa!  I start planning this baby right after Christmas ha (JK, but not really).  Here is a list of the goods that I’ll be dropping in Aniston’s basket this year….

Starry Knight rose gold moccs

Djeco wooden macaroons

Little Moon Clothing sunsuit

Anthropologie bunny ears

maddox and klaus clips

malieg baby mouse

gap swimsuit

Le Toy Van petit fours

Leairoux bloomers

So basically metallics and florals!!

Paleo cookies

I’ve been making these yummy avacado cookies lately. No they don’t taste like avacado, they taste more like a brownie. They are healthy and you must try. I snapped all about it yesterday, and since I’ve been getting lots of questions. I decided to post the link to the recipe here. They really are super easy!! My one advice is make sure you really mold them into cookies when putting them on the pan or they tend to look way less appetizing ha! (Like animal droppings ha!!) oh and maybe don’t tell your kids or husband what is in them till after 😉 enjoy!

12717901_912682880823_7164199363927939655_nKempton David you are four. How did time go by so fast, yet seem to stand still all at the same time. All of your four short years seem to run together in my mind. Maybe it’s because you are the middle child, or maybe it’s because you’ve been wearing 24 month clothes for almost 3 years. You are such a little guy with a big spirit. I can see the wheels turning in your head daily, the grooves getting deeper in your brain. You’re a witty little guy and a stubborn one too. You know what you want and no one or nothing can change your mind. Your scream steps on every single one of mama’s nerves and it is the one thing I could do without. But your snuggles more than make up for it. I love that you still fit perfectly in my lap, and that you ask to climb up there often.

You are such a good big brother to Aniston. I love when you call her Aniston Lynn. You are always watching out for her even when mommy tells you I have it all under control. Cohen “agabates” you. He is the source behind most of your screams. It’s not always his fault though. I can tell you are just trying to keep up with him and you get frustrated when your age holds you back. Deep down you are best buds. I see glimpses of your future friendship when we are out in public. That is when your bond is tightest. 12728787_912683145293_5708831469829757192_n

Some Kempisms- You call our guest bed the mystery bed.

Police officers are “policement”

When it’s light out you say the sky is awake

When it is too dark in your room you complain that you can’t see your eyes.

When you make us laugh you say “are you amuse”?

Favorite restaurants- Panda, Mcdonalds, and Chili’s

Your best friend is Beau and you want to look just like him someday.

When asked what activity you would like to do for the day you always answer, go to Target!!

Kemp this is the year you are going to change so much. I always feel like 4 is such a transitional year. You go from being a baby to a big boy. Right around 4.5 I will want to freeze time. You will be independent, but still so sweet and innocent.  You have learned so much from being in school for a year, constantly coming up with random facts I had no clue you knew, like who is on the $5 dollar bill. Mom and dad really enjoy watching you grow.

This year you requested a minecraft party, actually a minecraft basketball party. I love that you just can’t let go of your love for sports. You wanted to invite more than just cousins this year and requested Beau, Joe, Sam, Hudson and Kaiden. Most of who are in Cohen’s grade at school. It was the cutest thing ever seeing these older boys celebrate you. The whole time we were planning the party daddy kept saying “hey Kempton, you know what’s cool? Basketball. You know what’s not cool? Minecraft.” You would laugh and gently remind him that they are both cool!

We celebrated you the whole week of your birthday. On Monday you took treats to your school. On Tuesday (your real birthday) we went to Chuck E Cheese with cousins. On Wednesday you had donuts with dad at school. Then Saturday we had your minecraft party with friends. You are one lucky little four year old.

On your actual birthday I let you pick one activity for the day. You wanted to go to Target and buy a batman piggy bank ha! You also requested a “couch” cart, popcorn, and a slushie.

Kemp, you know what’s cool? Basketball. You know what’s not cool? Ha! But Kemp you are always the coolest!!

We love you Kemp daddy xo
